VERY VERY IMPORTANT!!!
There are times when we have to turn a patient away due to the time of day, the patient volume or the cases that we are dealing with. We hate to turn anyone away but it does happen and to make sure it is happening for the right reasons I need your help.
If you are turned away from being seen please contact me through this page and let me know the following:
This way I can make sure we are only turning our patients away at the times where we cannot help it.
Please remember if you are turned away and you are not having a life threatening illness you can come to us the next business day.
Please remember we do not take same day appointments so you can just walk in at any time. I would highly advise coming in early to avoid any problems with being seen.

Cold Medication Problems
Recently our Patients are having problems with cold medications. This is a nation wide problem due to the new FDA changes for cold medication. Any medication that is considered a "combo" or "multi-symptom" has been pulled off of the shelves if they have not previously passed the strict FDA laws. Medications that have been on the shelf for years and been prescribed by us and many other providers are now not being made or allowed for distribution. The FDA has said that these drugs have not been proven safe or effective. Until the manufactors test and prove these medications according to the guidelines set forth by the FDA it is making it hard for doctors to prescribe "multi symptom" medication. Some of these medications have been used by our office and other offices for years and have been very effective and have shown no problems (but this doesn't make the safe). They do need to pass the FDA testing and regulations so now we have to figure out what to do and what is best for you...the patient. So, in the meantime we have several options: 1. keep trying over the counter medication because they have been FDA approved. 2. write a seperate RX for each individual symptom (which could cost you more because you are having 2 or more medications instead of 1). 3. write a rx and hope the pharmacy has the medication in stock.
We have found recently that no matter what we write we get calls from the pharmacy to change the medication or transfer the rx to another pharmacy. This has been a big headache for Dr. Mantin and our patients and we hope it fixes itself very soon. Because of these changes Dr. Mantin may ask you to take over the counter medication, even if you have already tried over the counter medication because unfortunately there are not many options. We have been on the phone with the pharmacies many times since this cold season has started and we have written what they have told us that they have on hand but when the patient goes to the pharmacy with the rx, they no longer have the medication or it has been pulled from the shelf. It has become a never ending battle to find the best medication for "multi symptoms".
We ask that you be patient with our office and other offices in the area while these problems are worked out. We will do everything we can to help you get the right medication, but unfortunately we can only do so much.
